Seb Brown is setting the scene and illustrating what we're all feeling at the beginning of what seems to be the start of a very cold winter! We've welcomed Seb to our East Brunswick location to share with us his 'Sad Garden' illustrations.
"The inspiration is oncoming winter and sadness. Most of the flowers are dying and wilting, and getting ready to go dormant for the winter months. I also wanted to explore melancholy in relation to fashion. Fashion is often about joyfulness and celebration, I wanted to propose that it's ok to be sad - and there is beauty in that. The initial drawings were flowers around my own grave, which I ended up taking out as it was a little bit morose. And lastly Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada - 'Florals... for Spring... groundbreaking', so florals for Autumn." — Seb Brown
